I'm a not so average girl, in an average kind of way. I love pink, high-heels and long french manicured nails just as much as the next girlie-girl, but the difference, is that I work on my pink car in those high-heels, and don't mind gettin' a little oil or grease under my long french manicured nails.

I am NOT a man-hating-feminist-nut-cake woman who works on her cars just to prove something to the men of the world. Frankly I detest feminists as much as I love and embrace my feminity, and I happen to work on my cars because I actually enjoy the hell out of it! However, I'm definitely woman enough to not complain when a man wants to be chivalrous, and do it for me, or to teach me as he helps me out with my various project cars.

Collecting, customizing & working on cars may not be a typical girl-hobby, but I'm not exactly a typical girl. ;o)
Lucky loves to travel...

I love road tripping like nobody else, and I pretty much use my love for Mk1s as an excuse to travel, as I road-trip to various shows across the country. Waterfest and H2O are the farthest away, giving the most road-trip miles, so they are pretty much my favorites. Not to mention the group of wonderful Mk1 kids I enjoy hanging out with, drinking with, and visiting with, and sharing car talk with while I'm there.

I have met some pretty wonderful and remarkable people within the Mk1 community, some of which I know will be friends for a life time. Those people are truly the greatest reward of having this little Volkswagen hobby.

I created a travel blog site, Topless Across America, when I made my first big road trip, and have used it to blog about my various journeys across the country since, happily adding more participants along the way.

I am planning an even bigger road trip adventure for next year's H2O show, with the launch of the first annual coast to coast Mk1-only road trip across the country. There is already a huge list of other Mk1 enthusiasts who will be attending the show, making the cross-country journey together. You can view more details on the trip at the official C2CtoH2O web site specifically dedicated to this trip.
My Vee Double You Addiction Passion...

My journey into the world of Mk1 Volkswagens began over 7 years ago with the purchase of Kitty, my 1988 Cabriolet. Then, at some point, while Kitty was inoperable with her engine pulled, I got to itchin' for another, and ended up with Sophie, a 1985, and another delapidated project Mk1 in need of some serious love.

Then, along came Bandit, a 1992, and a little less of a "project" car, as he was in pretty good shape, and it just continued to grow, and my driveway and garage began to fill up with cars and parts at a rather rapid pace, with the purchases of Roxy, a 1991 Etienne Aigner Edition, then Trixie, another decent 1992, followed by a government auction win of Birdie, a 1986 model.

Most people would say that six Mk1 Cabriolet convertibles is plenty, but I ain't "most people"... and the $200 purchase of Peaches, a 1985 shell, and the incredible $99 ebay auction win of Daisy, another 1985, and a $500 Tink, a decent 1982, were all just too good of deals to pass up.

I had thought I was pretty much set for Cabby projects, but I couldn't help myself... still keeping my eye out for deals on ebay, craigslist, and various classifieds, I found Minxy, a 1993 Classic Collector's Edition on the Illinois craigslist, and since inexpensive '93 models seem to be hard to come by, I simply had to have her.

Well... I had pondered getting a Mk1 Rabbit, which is essentially a hard-top cabby, but because I love the convertibles so much, I didn't try very hard to find one. But then a member of The152 (my Mk1 community), posted up a deal that was too good to refuse... a decent 1980 Rabbit shell for free. Well, needless to say, the price was right, so Ruby became my first hard-top Mk1.

So I was up to 10 convertibles, and one hard top Rabbit, and I thought that would be it... I was wrong.

I shouldn't be allowed on craigslist anymore... Once again, this time on the Washington craigslist, I found an amazing beauty of a cabby. She was so cheap, and in such good shape, that I simply had to have her. She is a 1984 Rabbit Convertible (a year I didn't have yet, and yes, this is how I justify it.), so she became my 11th Mk1 convertible, and my 12th Mk1.

I had a dozen Mk1 Volkswagens... and... well... a dozen isn't really a dozen, unless it's a baker's dozen, is it? So when my friend Sean offered me a 1975 project Rabbit (with a 1974 build date!), of course I had to take him up on his offer. It's pretty hard to argue with free.

So at this point, I'm up to 13 14, and unless it's an amazing deal, and a model year I don't yet have, I'm not looking to buy any more, until I get some of the projects I already have off the ground...

But of course that could always change.... Why? Whatchoo got you wanna sell me??? ;o)

November 2009 - Update: Well... I was on craigslist again, and found a 1981 Caddy for sale locally, so yeah...
I bought my first Caddy! The seller was asking $700, but he accepted an offer of $550, so I definitely couldn't pass it up. I'm super excited to be expanding my mk1 model experiences. =o)

I the internet. I live here. I am addicted to creating graphics and building various web sites, in addition to manipulating scripts and programs to create useless stuff to play with on the netz. I love technology, and teaching myself how to script and code is definitely a favorite past time. Yes, I can admit it... I'm a big nerd.
