Daisy...

I ended up with Daisy on a fluke. I was browsing around ebay, when I came across a listing for a 1985 cabby located on Orcas Island in Washington. It had 6 days to go, with no bids, and since it was so close to home, I thought I'd add it to my watch list, just to see how high it would sell for, etc. However, you were only allowed to have 100 items in your ebay watch list, and I was at my limit. So I figured I'd throw the first bid of $99 on it, so I could at least keep track of it in my "bidding on" list.

Well, day 5 came, and my bid was still the only bid on it. Day 4, day 3, day 2... still, just my $99 bid. I began to think I might end up with this car that I had bid on just to be able to keep track and see how high it would go.

I had already planned on going to the Seattle car auctions that Saturday, because they had a cabby on the auction list, and the ebay auction was ending Saturday afternoon, so I was starting to worry that if I ended up getting the cabby at the Seattle car auction, AND won the ebay auction, I was going to have to figure out how to get both cabbies home without making a second trip.

Well... I went to the Seattle car auction in the morning, and the cabby there ended up going for more than I was willing to spend. But rather than just heading back home to Montana as I normally would, I went back to my hotel, and fired up the laptop, to see if I had indeed won the auction. And I had.

So I sent the guy a message, and let him know that I was in fact in Seattle, but would be heading back to Montana the next day, so was there any way I could just pick up the car in the morning. He rearranged his schedule, and rode over on the ferry, and for $99, I was handed the title and the keys, which I used to fire up my new $99 cabby, and drove her right up onto the trailer and brought her home.

She's definitely in need of some love, but for $99, I couldn't go wrong.
